From Skeptic to Superfan: My Unexpected Love for Pvolve

I’ve been an avid exerciser all of my adult life, and I think I’ve tried pretty much everything out there: aerobics, Jazzercise, yoga, hot yoga (almost a full class!), step aerobics, Zumba, HIIT, circuit training, random gym equipment, Orangetheory, treadmill, spinning (once!), elliptical, dumbbells/weights with a trainer, pilates, and pilates reformer all come to mind at the moment. My absolute favorite was the reformer —the hour just flew by! The movements felt smooth and virtually effortless, all while promising toned, elongated muscles. Enter Pvolve.

Falling for Pvolve

Pvolve, yoga, and the elliptical have been my mainstays over the past couple of years, but it’s only been these last five weeks where Pvolve has completely captivated me. I’ve been doing their Strength Redefined challenge, a dynamic series of 28 unique sessions. Each week, they release four new workouts, strategically designed to target different muscle groups for a well-balanced and effective training experience. And let me tell you, I can absolutely see and feel the difference! For the first time, I have real definition in my arms and core—something even my younger self never quite achieved.

Standing Abs and Effortless Arms? Yes, Please

What amazes me most about these results is that the core work is mostly done standing, with lots of twisting and reaching—no endless crunches required—so I didn’t really think I’d see any results from these types of movement. And despite not feeling like I’ve struggled much with the arm exercises, the definition is surprisingly noticeable. All of the moves feel really good, probably because the program is built on functional movement—the kinds of motions we naturally use in everyday life. Although, I just finished the second class in week five, and it was definitely core-focused—but in a good way!

A Stronger Body—and a Better One

Pvolve hasn’t just changed how I look—it’s changed how I feel in my body. It’s hard to explain, but I feel more grounded and solid (thanks to the balance and posture work that’s naturally built into each session), more aware of how I move throughout the day—like when I reach to put bowls away on that annoyingly high shelf—and even my posture has improved. And this might sound weird or hard to believe, but I actually feel younger!

Wait—What Is Pvolve?

Ah! I should back up and tell you what Pvolve is! Although they do have some physical locations, you can also buy a subscription to exercise on demand at home. I bought their equipment, which consists of a few different items: their version of resistance bands (for legs and arms), hand weights, ankle weights and bands, a resistance ball, a slant board, gliders for sliding/stretching, and their signature mat, which really helps with alignment when following along with the instructor. When you buy their equipment package, you get one free year to workout on demand as well as the choice to do their live classes.

My New Go-To Routine

Pvolve’s online platform has ton of different classes targeting whatever you might want, and the lengths vary tremendously. You can do 2-5 minute sessions on how to use their equipment, an 8-minute full-body stretch, a 63-minute full-body strength class, and countless classes in between of assorted lengths and focus. I, personally, haven’t done any of the classes on how to use their equipment because it has been super easy to figure out how to use each piece when doing the classes.

Before starting this 6-week challenge, I only did Pvolve once or twice a week, relying mostly on the elliptical for 40 minutes, 5–6 days a week. Now, I’ve shifted to Pvolve 4-5 times a week, with the elliptical twice a week—and the transformation has been incredible! Thanks to the results I’m seeing from this Pvolve series, this new routine is here to stay.
