Success Stories

Thank you, Suzanne, for introducing me to Intermittent Fasting (IF) six years ago.

It was so exciting to hear about an easy diet with no food restrictions. IF is just common sense, eating healthy foods, and I can still eat the sweets I love ….but should try to limit sugar.

At the time I wanted to lose weight, but was plateaued with extra pounds that just wouldn’t come off.

I started fasting 16 hours with an eight hour eating window, aka 16:8. At first going 16 hours without eating was difficult. I always had breakfast and felt nauseous if I didn’t eat anything. To help get over the hunger, I drank tea until 11 AM.

I have stayed with an 11 AM to 7 PM window, but do flex my schedule as needed.

My body adjusted to not feeling hungry in the morning. Sometimes I can narrow my eating window to five or six hours when not hungry.

When I first started fasting, no weight was lost the first four months. Then all of a sudden pounds started dropping off.  I’m about 12 to 15 pounds lighter than before I started IF. I’m at the weight I want to maintain.

In addition to weight loss, there are many health benefits with IF. One important benefit to me is reduced inflammation. When fasting for 16 or more hours, the body destroys old and  damaged cells resulting in reduced inflammation. This is especially important in dealing with my autoimmune issues.

Your encouragement has been key to my persevering and succeeding with IF.

Intermittent fasting helped me quiet that constant hunger I used to feel. I finally feel in control—and for the first time, cravings no longer control me. It’s empowering not to be at the mercy of my stomach anymore!

I signed up for the Just a Slice support since I was really motivated to do this. The emails and weekly check-ins were really helpful!

A few years ago at my yearly checkup, I stepped on the scale and saw I’d gained 10 pounds since my last visit. My doctor kind of brushed it off and said, “Oh, that’s normal—most women gain weight during menopause.” I know she meant to make me feel better, but it didn’t. I was shocked, honestly. And right then, I knew I wanted to make a change.

I reached out to Suzanne, and she got me started with intermittent fasting. At first, things were a little rocky with my schedule, but after a few weeks I was getting the hang of it. It was right around the two-month mark where I noticed I was losing weight—gradually—but I kept losing. I couldn’t believe how easy this was! I didn’t alter what I ate, just when I ate.

It’s been about four years now, and I’m able to maintain my weight loss with a daily fasting ratio of 18:6. This way of eating is so easy, and I don’t deprive myself of really anything! Anyway, I’m so glad I had Suzanne to get me started with intermittent fasting and telling me what to expect along the way.
